»» Debate over Wine Laws in Maryland and Florida

- Maryland

Governor of Maryland Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., is expected to sign two ‘wine bills’:
one that will continue to allow Maryland wineries to sell directly to restaurants and retailers,
and the other that would allow diners to take home leftover wine.
The bill which allows diners to take home leftover wine, may stop them from consuming too much wine at the restaurant before driving home; it is what the proponents of the bill say.

- Florida

In Florida continues the debate over who should be allowed to ship wines directly to in-state residents.
A proposal is being negotiated to allow only wineries that produce less than 250,000 gallons of wine a year to offer direct deliveries; leaving larger wineries to operate through their in-state distributors.
