»» Blindfolded Free Wine Tasting in the Riviera of Marche

San Benedetto del Tronto, in the Adriatic riviera of the Marche, will host the wine event, “Vino āĻ”, from April 23 until to 25.
“Vino āĻ” is an enotest, a free blindfolded tasting.

Four local red wines will be served, and people tasting, will have to report on features such as taste, type, aroma etc…

Among the wines served:

- Falerio

- Rosso Piceno
Color: Red
Description: Ruby red
Type: Dry still
Taste: Harmonious, dry and sapid.
Aroma: Pleasant, of wine.
Alcohol: 11.5% -13%

- Rosso Conero
Color: Red
Description: Ruby red
Type: Dry still
Taste: Harmonious, dry, sapid and full-bodied.
Aroma: Pleasant
Alcohol: 11.5%

- Offida Doc
Color: Red
Type: Dry still
Temperature: Serve at 60° - 64° Fahrenheit, 16° - 18° Celsius.

The datas gathered, will provide information on how people rate local wines without label.
“Vino āĻ”, is a project, sponsored by European Union and Unavini, aiming to promote autochthonous vine varieties. San Benedetto del Tronto is the first stage of an itinerary that will cross many other wine areas in Italy.

»» USA Reference Market for Italian Winemakers

From the wine exhibition Vinitaly - April 6-10, a few figures. Total of people attending the exhibition registering 144,000 (143,000 last year); 10% increase in buyers and a 23% increase in foreign visitors over the 2005 edition.

- USA is the reference market

According to a survey conducted on 600 enterprises exhibiting at Vinitaly, USA represent a privileged market for exports. 20.4% of those interviewed believe that the USA is the best market, followed by Germany (17.3%) UK (11%), Japan (9%), Russia (5.3%), and China (4.8%).

- Parma Prosciutto exports increase

Another of the typical Italian specialties favorite by foreigners, Parma Prosciutto, confirms its export growth. It is what Parma Prosciutto Consortium (association of producers of Parma Prosciutto) has announced, commenting the positive figures relative to the 2006 Q1.

The Alto-Adige wines fair is taking place from April 19, through 22.
It offers a chance to taste a large selection of the wines of this Italian alpine province and to visit a few places among the most scenic in Italy.

Schwanburg Castle

Trentino Alto-Adige is the Italy’s most northerly wine region and Bolzano, home of the fair, is the main center of a province bordering with Austria, where the Germanic culture still runs strong.

Guided visits to cellars located inside historic castles and to wineries, wineparties, and food & wine tasting sessions are scheduled for this 4 days alpine wines fair.

Among the themed tasting sessions that are scheduled:
Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, GewāŸrztraminer, Schiava, Pinot Nero, Cabernet, Lagrein.

Yesterday April 10, was the last of the six days of Vinitaly - 40th edition.

The major international wine trade show, will have a traveling version; it will be made available in more countries.
