If you are enthusiasts of Chianti or of reds from Tuscany, we suggest a wine tasting featuring Tuscan wines, on Friday June 23, in Tampa, Florida.
“Mama Mia Italian Wine & Food”, is a Italian wine sampling at the Charlie’s Wine Bar of Tampa, featuring Chianti Classico and Super Tuscan wines.

Super Tuscans is a new category of Tuscan wines launched in the 1960s, by a group of young Chianti producers. As they blended different grapes in different proportions not authorized by DOC laws, these wines could not be listed as DOC or DOCG wines. However, today, these wines are very appreciated and expensive; most are a blend of Sangiovese and French Bordeaux grapes.
Chianti Classico is produced in central Tuscany, narrowing the production zone of Chianti to the hills between Siena and Florence (see the map). Chianti Classico production code requires a minimum of 80 percent of the Sangiovese grape.
